Folk meets roots rock artist Joey Harkum has just shared his latest poignant track "Sick and Tired," the second single off of his forthcoming album Salt and Tar, set for release May 13th.

With "Sick and Tired," Joey Harkum explores the heart wrenching account of someone being addicted to drugs but ultimately coming to the conclusion that quitting has to and needs to happen. Harkum witnessed this abuse first hand in his blue collar community along the Chesapeake Bay where many succumbed to the perils of drug dependence due to lack of opportunity. He confides that "'Sick and Tired' is a song about being engulfed in drug culture and coming to the realization that you no longer can/want to continue being a part of the lifestyle. Ultimately pursuing music led me to focus on something positive rather than falling victim to drug addiction like a lot of my close friends and family at the time." With folk-laced acoustic guitar driven soundscapes, emotive pop melodies and soulful vocals, "Sick and Tired" is an introspective plea for self recovery.

Joey Harkum is a prolific and well known songwriter who first burst onto the music scene in 2008 leading the popular folk meets Reggae rock band Pasadena. After over a decade of making music and touring with Pasadena, Harkum decided to pursue his self-titled solo project. With his upcoming album Salt and Tar, the musician leans more into folk and Americana territory with bluegrass-tinged soundscapes and rich-roots drenched melodies singing lyrics about fatherhood, addiction and loss.

Take a listen to "Sick and Tired" now and look forward to more music to come from Joey Harkum.
