As Homeboy Sandman prepares to drop his new Illingsworth's produced EP, he shares a new single "The Only Constant" alongside an accompanying music video. In usual fashion, Homeboy Sandman blends a mix of nostalgia, humor, and a whole lot of vivid introspective elements in his raps. Over the layered solemn piano-laden backdrop ripe with soulful vocal samples some brass lines and sparse drum grooves, Homeboy runs through a plethora of experiences revolving around progression in life. From growing up, growing apart from people who were once close friends, and seeing our environments change right inf front of our eyes, Homeboy shows us how the feeling of change can be even though it's somewhat impossible to explain it to anybody who wasn't actually there.
In the visual, he pays homage to the golden era of rap with its retro aesthetics and the use of the classic SOHK sweatsuit in varying sizes. It is shot in Homeboy Sandman's hometown of Queens and viewers get to see some of the sights and sounds of the borough. “The Only Constant” is a precursor to his forthcoming EP There In Spirit, which is set for release on February 25th via Mello Music Group.
