Brooklyn-based crooner and multi-instrumentalist Ndeh has been concocting his own distinct blend of psychedelic soul, hip-hop, funk, and R&B since around 2018 with the release of his highly underrated debut Chasing Suns EP. He has since been taking time to meticulously refine his sound, all while giving a fans a glimpse into his evolving headspace with occasional EP and single drop (including the excellent indie-soul earworm "Dandelion").
Late last week, the reclusive artist had finally resurfaced with his first official release of 2022, a triumphant big-band backed single entitled "Paradise". The song chronicles Ndeh's struggles with overcoming depression, addiction, and constant setbacks in order to attain a state of mental and spiritual peace. When asked to comment on the creation of the song, Ndeh explained:
"This song was created between Diamond Mine Studios in Long Island City and The Cave in Greenpoint, BK. It features Loren Humphrey on Drums, Aku Ot on Organ, James Richardson (of MGMT) on bass, and Walter Fancourt on Flute and Saxophone. Produced by Lucas Carpenter, I wanted to encapsulate a 70s “stoner rock/soul” sound on this song while attempting to contextualize the black condition sonically."
Be sure to stay peeled on everything Ndeh has in store for the rest of 2022!
