Germany-based pop artist Emma Philine shares the experimental new single "ROSES". Taken from her new EP 17 2 20, the single is a dark-pop track laced with brooding intrigue.
Layered with atmospheric textures and mystical melodies, "ROSES" is a feisty track that throws Philine into the spotlight. Handled with stride, the track's whirring dark pop sensibilities create a sleek but diverse brand of mutant pop, conspired with unconventional instrumentation and unpredicatable soundwaves. Though Philine's muted vocals emit some Eilish-vibes, Philine's craft remains to be a personal one, a journey she has since finished as a new chapter is on the horizon."ROSES" is a reminder of who Philine used to be.
Speaking on the EP, Philine says: "I’ve decided to call the EP ‘17 to 20’ because all songs were written in the time between 2017 (when [producer] Zoetrop and I first met) and 2020. A long time has passed between writing, finishing and now releasing those songs… And now, when I’m looking at the whole EP, it’s like looking at a different version of myself. A version that I can empathize with even though I’m not her anymore. This project represents my hard path through therapy , broken hearts, bad self esteem , all of that."
