theMVP is a Rhode Island-raised emcee who started out as a battle rapper but his life got derailed for a stint due to personal struggles but now he is back on track. After getting out of rehab in 2018, he moved to Miami, FL, to restructure himself and started making music again after a chanced meeting with a video director/music producer. His latest release "Whatcha be About?" is his own expression of what hip-hop means and it's a pure display of bravado and energetic flows. Bolstered by a rousing, synth-driven backdrop, theMVP solidifies his stance by stating "I'm about ripping up the mic/ staying true to hip-hop/ I got all these goals and I promise you I won't stop," and tie it up with a thoughtful hook that questions the over-commercialization of hip-hop.
The music video, directed by DonbiTV, makes use of performance shots of theMVP in the gym. It makes use of cinematic and dynamic aesthetics that focus on the rapper's energetic and commanding presence.
He has currently teamed up with Yeyo787 (owner of Trapical Music) to work on theMVP's debut album Blood on the MIC.
