Straight out of the dungeons of rap we have Providence, Rhode Island duo Lord Willin and Redd Rebel who recently teamed up for a forthcoming collaborative EP. In the interim, they share the video for their single "Russian Hats," a dark boisterous track that sees the duo collaborating with the legendary lyricist Ill Bill (of Non Phixon fame). Backed by Stu Bangas's cinematic and gloomy production and excellent scratches provided by Tone Spliff, the trio come packed with a wide range of rhyme schemes, off-kilter graphic wordplay, and references to pop culture and a certain mafia don.
The video shot and edited by Voz is straightforward and focuses on the performance strengths of the trio. From Lord Willin, Redd Rebel, and ILL BILL's physical posturing to seamless transitions, viewers get a feel of the ominous energy they bring to the screens. "Russian Hats" is a single taken from Lord Willin and Redd Rebel'sforthcoming Fire & Steel EP.
