As salty as her name may sound, brand new artist Sea Lemon’s music is nothing but sweet. After picking up an electric guitar for the first time in 2019, Natalie Lew discovered a love for writing, recording, and producing music. Originally in all-female grunge band called Climates, she desperately wanted to express her own sound. Thus came her solo project, Sea Lemon. Out December 8, she presents her newest track, “Fortune Teller.”
Listeners won’t be able to predict what’s coming before they hear “Fortune Teller.” It’s not just your average dreampop sound, but actually a surprisingly flowing mix of styles. Lew’s vocals can be compared to Molly Rankin of Alvvays with their soft-nasaly, but emotive qualities. Altogether, there’s some 1960s vibes with some surf rock, bright electric guitar melodies. The bridge really kicks in with a psych-rock guitar riff, helping capture all the emotions of being in love.
