New York based singer, Josh Stone, has released a new single titled “Popular”. The artist uses the track as an avenue to challenge the media. Through the lyrics of the song, Stone shares his distaste for two things: the agenda of mainstream media and people being afraid to speak their mind out of fear of being cancelled.“Popular” poses questions to the world while speaking on what is happening to famous people who may be scared to express themselves. Production-wise, the pop-friendly beat is backed by sampling from the Broadway show Wicked.

The single comes as a follow up of previously released “Slide 101” featuring Dave East. Speaking on “Popular” in a press statement, Stone shares, “The record means a lot to me. I felt I needed to ask questions I really don’t have the answers to. Do we all have to have like-minded thinking? Or are we too scared to say something? Just observations I wanted to put out over a pop friendly record.”

When Stone is not writing or producing, he is collaborating with other engineers. He describes his sound as hip-hop and pop-influenced. Artistically, Stone is inspired by many great artists such as Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Nipsey Hussle, and Eminem to name a few. What inspires him most is his everyday life and his main source of motivation stems from his family.
