Plymouth's finest five-piece The Native continue to solidify their indie risers status with the reflective new single "Call Me Out". The band's trajectory has seen them performing across the UK this year, including key festival performances, and it's still only the very beginning for these guys.
Written about overcoming toxicity and emotional gaslighting, the single hooks into the band's signature guitar-driven melodies and produces a track that doesn't emit the heavy nature of its songwriting topics. It's a buoyant single that loops thunderous drum patterns and silky guitar tones to leave us yearning for more indie goodness. Charlie Noordewier's smooth vocal tones glide over the alt-indie backdrop, carrying us through the turmoil of the narrative before sending us sky high with the anthemic choruses that offer a musical antidote.
Knowing exactly how to harness their indie powers, The Native fuel their frenzied supporters with each release and they know exactly how to impress. Each single – including "Lost On You" & "In My Mind" – continue to showcase their formulaic indie sounds, a combination of roaring drums, heart-thumping bass and infectious guitars, but why change something that works so well? This is The Native's winning streak and I have a feeling we'll be hearing from them a lot more next year.
