Gia Woods dropped her second single off of her highly-anticipated Heartbreak County EP, appropriately titled, "OMG," and it's the perfect end-of-summer anthem.
"OMG" starts with a languid "oh my god" drawn out so dramatically to set the scene. The haunting beat comes in fast and instantly hooks you. This current project is a sort of love letter to Los Angeles. Much like the city itself, on the surface, it's shimmery and bright, with dark undertones lurking beneath. Each song on the Heartbreak County EP features one of the city's vices: fame, sex, addiction, and God, with "OMG" representing just that.
Each breathy "omg" serves a purpose in this track. It's part of the melody and feels so engrained in LA culture, but Gia Woods serves a different kind of God. Woods states in a recent press release, "I do feel that through the infamous LA party scene, I developed my own concept of religion through the dance floor. Los Angeles is the City of Angels, dancing is Nirvana, and that's the closest I get to feeling religious."
Gia Woods is an up-and-coming artist and LA native. Her debut EP, Cut Season, detailed her cutting out the toxic people from her life and breaking the bad habits surrounding them. Her sophomore EP, Heartbreak County, is set for release on October 8th.
