Nigerian producer Rexxie embodies the mantle of a production champion on his debut project entitled A True Champion. The project comes after his Grammy win for his solid work on Burna Boy's Twice As Tall LP. A True Champion is a 17 track body of work that seeks to showcase Rexxie's versatility behind the boards. Rexxie also comes with top-notch features with names like Teni, Naira Marley, Ghanian rapper Sarkodie, South African afro-house singer Sho Madjozi, UK rapper Ms. Banks and more.

The project opens up with the dancehall-tinged "Frenemies" featuring singer Oxlade who delivers a Caribbean-tinged melodic run as he dwells on the fake friends and his rise to fame. Singer Teni brings her fun-loving demeanor on the carefree and soothing "Boi Boi" while Naira Marley and Sarkodie showcase defiance on the mid-tempo party jam "Mofoti 2.o." Rexxie taps into the afrowave arena on the Kida Kudz assisted "Motherland," this is followed by the previously released single "KPK (Ko Por Ke)" featuring rising Afropop singer Mohbad. The single was the precursor to the project and opened the floodgates on dancefloors when it dropped. On "Zanku 2.0" Rexxie teams up with Zlatan and puts his own spin on the sub-genre of the same name with a frenzied production ripe with catchy melodies and rousing drum grooves.

On "40 BTC" we get some amapiano vibes mixed with afro house and the result is a moody and atmospheric piece bolstered by Seyi Vibes who delivers his melodies in Yoruba with an impassioned punch. The closing song "For You" is a mellow, heartfelt tribute to all the fans who have supported the artist and features singers Lyta and EMO Grae who give thanks to their supporters.  Other tracks that hit the mark include "Banger," the Piano heavy and bouncy cut "Back2Back" and the remix of the aforementioned "KPK." This remix is a solid addition and features Sho Madjozi who doesn't disappoint with her over-charged vocals and melodic chants. She sure is in her element delivering lines in Swahili and Yoruba (which she does effortlessly too).

Overall, A True Champion is Rexxie's sonic display of his gifts to the world and his proficiency in crafting world-class audio bangers.
