Losing a special person can be one of the most difficult experiences we face in life. Sometimes nothing can describe the myriad of emotions that we go through following a deep loss, but Tall Heights’s new single “The Mountain” offers hope, comfort and peace to those who are healing from their sorrows.

Inspired by a photograph that a friend sent to Tall Heights following the death of his grandfather, who spent his last days at home “peacefully looking at the mountains that he and his wife loved so much,” this song takes the listener on a cinematic journey into the afterlife through the lens of a naturalist. The song is written in the form of a love letter – deeply poetic, sincere, and with endless devotion for the beloved.  Lyrics such as “you always loved that mountain, so honey that's where you'll go. Not trying to be morbid, but at the end of your road, if you go somewhere else before I do, I'll be looking at the mountain, honey, I'll be making eyes at you" gives strength in knowing that memories do remain, while also carrying a message of hope for an eventual reunion. The song itself is elegantly arranged, flowing with angelic vocals, soothing harmonies, and the graceful strums of an acoustic guitar which cumulate into a tender, heartrending masterpiece.

Boston-based progressive folk band Tall Heights are best known for their dreamy and harmonious minimalist music style. The duo has toured with Ben Folds, CAKE, Judah & the Lion, Colony House, and The Paper Kites to name a few. The new single is produced by Mike Mogis (Phoebe Bridgers, Bright Eyes) and marks the first musical partnership with the band.
