As Canadian emcee Def3 prepares to drop his album Weddings and Funerals, produced by Denver-based electronic producer Late Night Radio, he shares with us the video of his single "Rani." The heartfelt song sees Def3 having sober reflections of how his life change when he became the father to a vibrant baby girl. The record is ripe with chilled and nostalgia-inducing production courtesy of Late Night Radio, which makes use of soft 4 to the floor drums, warm basslines, and sober strings to good use. Def3's approach reads like a diary entry of some sort and he takes the listener from the start of his journey as a young father to watching his daughter grow to be an inspiration and impetus for him to go the extra mile to give her the life she deserves.

The video directed and produced by Robin Leveille taps into the theme of the song and puts father and daughter in center stage. Leveille refrains from using performance shots and opts for a display of affection between the 2 main characters instead. From the kid running amok in the studio to both parties having a fun day at the park, the visual help document how they spend time with each other and then some.

Danny Fernandez a/k/a Def3 is a Vancouver, BC-based rapper who is a mainstay in the Canadian hip-hop scene. From winning four Western Canadian Music Awards to touring across North America, Europe and Australia to releasing several records with Weddings and Funerals, marks the rapper’s third full-length release, and is the follow-up to his 2017 LP, Small World.  Weddings and Funerals is the second collaborative project between Def3 and LNR and will be available on June 4, 2021 via URBNET.  The nine-track record features Denver’s electronic funk duo Recess, Vancouver emcee Kapok, and instrumentalists Miles Lujan and Melissa Joy.
