The Norway-based duo made up of Ol' Burger Beats and Vuyo first teased their fans of a new project with their first collaborative single, "Enough For You" at the end of 2020. As promised the tag team is back with their full-length collaborative project Dialogue and a visual to support the release. The 20-track body of work is a soundtrack of Vuyo's journey in this never-ending game called life. From his birthplace of South Africa to traversing the globe to land in Norway, he shares with us his dreams, hopes, and creative hunger in a new project steeped in deep lyricism and soulful jazz.
As the title suggests, the project is also an aural discourse between the rapper, producer, and listeners. As a conceptual project, it is as immersive as can be with vivid songs that touch on life as an immigrant ("Schengen visa"), self-identity ("Enough for You"), and even self-growth ("Summer of George"). Vuyo's casual and somewhat unassuming flow is quite centered and natural. His delivery is always natural and works alongside much of the instrumental throughout the project.
As for the production, Ol' Burger Beats has prepared a plethora of sounds that is mainly jazz and soul-influenced but also throws in lo-fi sensibilities with a touch of '90s boom-bap to spice things up. The last piece to this musical puzzle is visual artist Lunga Ntila who provides the artwork and also narrates the skits/interludes on the project.
