Logic1000 is diving head first into 2021, seeing the release of her second single of the year, "Medium." Leading up to the release of an EP entitled You've Got The Whole Night To Go, the Berlin-based Aussie artist dives deeper into her exploration of electronic music's past, present, and future.
"Medium" leans on reverb and percussion to deliver a display of expert production. With roots in rave culture history, a spattered baseline propels a rave 'n' roll-inspired drum machine beat. Bringing in those reverbed vocals has created an atmospheric track where, all of the piecey elements of "Medium" seemingly need to work together as a whole to succeed in the way they do. This is the simple mark of someone who knows what they want.
Since her debut in 2018, Logic1000 (Samantha Poulter) has been on critics' radars, including our own. Landing herself in a class of boundary-breaking new artists, she's built a brand that through a variety of percussive styles—liquid drum and bass, rave-y electronica—always brings itself back to melody and emotion. "Medium" continues this quest, and sits in contrast to its predecessor, "I Won't Forget," a signal that this EP could deliver an all-encompassing journey through Logic1000's viewfinder.
"I made ‘Medium’ for those of you who are in the car on the way to the club,” she shared in a statement. “It’s a pre-party moment. I really feel like this track is reflective of my taste, in its truest sense. I’m all about groove and momentum in music and I feel like ‘Medium’ has those things. The thing I remember most about making this track was the desire to be moving. It was peak lockdown and all I wanted was to have that feeling like I was going somewhere. I wanted to escape."
"Medium," of course, is streaming on all DSPs here, and you can pre-order You've Got The Whole Night To Go on Bandcamp (there's vinyl, too!) here.
