After 12 months in the making, Ida Engberg makes her return to the Truesoul imprint in the form of a five track EP. The release marks the end of long hiatus for Engberg as she has not release an original EP in six years. Return Of Consciousness takes the listeners through a journey of production styles and certainly shows why the concept had taken a whole year to develop as each track featured on the EP is uniquely different from their predecessors.

The Swedish producer kicks off the EP with a mystical intro entitled "Reverse Time" to set the tone of the release. The intro track features two minutes and forty seconds of ambient sound, opening the door for what is to come as one progresses through the the release.

Following the intro track, the title track tastefully introduces a tasteful house forward approach. The cosmic house style is brought to life by lush pads, swirling arpeggios in the break and a delicate vocal that amplifies its message. While Engberg's traditional production style is typically techno, "Return of Consciousness" allowed her to display a different side of her production in the form of a irresistible melodic house cut.  "House of Colours" bumps the tempo up a notch and brings in more of a traditional techno forward approach with a tribal spin. With a chanting vocal at the forefront of this 132 bpm gem boasts a rolling bass destined to pull listeners on to the dancefloor.

The fourth track on the release "The 8th Fire" is a melodic techno gem boasting the elements of an old school early morning  dancefloor record. The track mark the turning point of the EP as the release starts to step into the dark more traditional side of Engberg's production style. "Reverse Time" closes out the release in the form of a serious dancefloor banger. The peak-time techno track is comprised of all the elements of a late night club essential.

While the construction of this project may have taken a year, Ida Engberg certainly displayed her full range of production skill on this one, making the wait worthwhile.
