London-based, Hull-raised songwriter Tom Atkin, has released a stirring debut track, "Lil Fucker." Showcasing Atkin's inherent songwriting talents, the single is layered with sluggish vocals that showcase his endlessly creative soul.
Previously the frontman of the indie-rock group The Paddingtons, Atkin heads off on a solo journey with a thunderous new single. Underlined with a rousing bass line, "Lil Fucker" is a classic punk anthem fused with trap-inspired beats. Of the new single, Atkin explains, “Lil Fucker is quite a personal song and in essence, is self-referential in regards to, on occasion taking things for granted." It's stirring guitars and pensive lyrics provide a contemplative listening experience. Atkin continues, "In regards to the production, we tried to harmonise my interests of older icons with some new, and this song and the rest of the EP tells a short but vivid story of an emotional stage in my life. I sat on this for a while and it feels like a good time to release this song in particular.”
With a debut EP set to release shortly, "Lil Fucker" is only a taste of what's to come from Atkin. Wrapped in gritty inflections and matter-of-fact reflections, this is a brilliant debut from an artist we need to keep on our radars.
