For a production crew as formidable as Quakers, the bar is set incredibly high for guest MCs. The U.K.-based trio of Supa K (formerly known as Katalyst), 7STU7, and Fuzzface (A.K.A. Geoff Barrow of Portishead) is gearing up for the release of a new album on Stones Throw, a monumental new project that features a plethora of dynamic rappers who can match the group’s imaginative vibes. One example of a guest who fits right in with the Quakers aesthetic is the Zambian-born, Melbourne-based rapper Sampa the Great, who graces the track “Approach with Caution.”

Laced with notes of influence from reggae and old school boom bap, Quakers deliver an engrossing production with an undeniably original flavor that sets the stage for Sampa’s percussive flow. In contrast to the track’s lighthearted groove, the rapper offers up some powerful lyrics dealing with female independence in the music industry. In a line that underscores the theme, she writes, “Some guys should buckle up and approach with caution / we don’t take it lightly who we pick for our supporting / we the type of sheeps who can follow and lead / we can build a business while we’re blowing off trees.” Sampa’s effortlessly stylish vocals are a perfect counterpart to the production vibe, making “Approach with Caution” a tantalizing preview of Quakers’ upcoming LP.

Quakers' new album Quakers II: The Next Wave will be released on November 13 on Stones Throw and is available to pre-order here. The LP will feature additional guest appearances from artists like The Koreatown Oddity, Guilty Simpson, Jonwayne, Jeremiah Jae, Chester Watson, Boog Brown, and more.
