Based in London, Scottish pop artist Kirsty Grant writes songs to reflect the thoughts and feelings of her Gen Z peers. Her reflections on the dilemmas she writes about counterbalance with the cool and withdrawn pop melodies. Kirsty’s been keeping her fans on their toes by releasing other hypnotic tracks throughout the year like “Wait a Second” and “High Road”. Today, though, she’s released her third single of the year “Back To Sleep”.

Grant confirmed, “it’s about longing after someone you’ve lost, reflecting on that period after a breakup where it’s isolating and painful and you don’t know what to do with your day to get through it, so the only thing you can do is go back to sleep and try to forget.” Sounds like a solution that everyone has probably related to at one point or another.

The production intermixes twinkles and echoes with firework percussion. Kirsty admits, “It’s the hardest I’ve ever worked (vocally) on a song and it took countless hours to perfect.” Well, Kirsty’s hard work shows. She displays vocals similar to those of Ariana Grande and a spacey production similar to Dua Lipa’s. These qualities prove that Grant is a star in the making; she shines like her music.
