Nashville heart-throb Cameron Hawthorn has been wooing listeners with his spellbinding concoction of country, Americana with a dose of folk/pop. Originally from Kansas, the songwriter prides himself on his organic approach to music and raw lyricism, giving audiences a glimpse into his own world and providing solace for those in need.
Following the release of his viral single "Dancing in the Living Room", Hawthorn unveils “To Break Hers” – a stunning song sharing his own experiences with dating and the ultimate heartache that comes in hand. As an openly gay musician, he speaks about his journey to coming out and the pain that was endured by himself and his girlfriend at the time. Hawthorn shares, "Navigating dating is a difficult process in general, and I hate that when it doesn’t work out, someone usually gets hurt. For me, there was an added level of why it would never work out with this girl, and it wasn’t until coming out and looking back on the relationship and breakup that I was truly able to process it all."
“To Break Hers” shimmers with subtle piano arrangements and twangy guitars, showing off his soulful, velvet vocals and delicious tones. Sonically the song is minimalistic, but certainly packs a punch with it’s poignant narrative.
Inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash and James Taylor, Hawthorn’s music maintains a level of musical maturity, while having a modern edge and being utterly infectious.
