Maro's debut single "carsick" is a perfect summer jam

Maro's debut song "carsick" has summer romance written all over it and a perfect introduction to the up-and-coming indie-pop artist.

Maro is a Lebanese pop artist that is riding that wave of earworm pop featuring layers of sun-soaked pop, indie-acoustic, and heavy lyrics dealing with self-awareness. In his latest single, Maro defines a toxic-relationship in a way that sounds so bright and effervescent. After making a name for himself with dreamy cover songs varying from Lil Peep & XXXTentacion's "Falling Down" to Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon," his debut original single announces exactly who he is in the pop space, and it's a stellar introduction.

Moving several times throughout his upbringing amidst war-torn Lebanon, Maro grew up teaching himself piano and guitar from online tutorials. That drive and work ethic runs through his veins and fuels his songwriting process. His Lebanese and Ukrainian roots remain at the heart of his music. It gives his sound a worldwide appeal and originality that's entirely his own, with the use of softer sounds combined with the influences of his past and his ability to blend genres together.

His finely-tuned songwriting skills present a dive into the classic on-and-off relationship. The cycles we move into and the toxic traits that we can't shake. In a recent press release, he explains, "Despite knowing there's no point in trying again, I still do, which leads me to bad habits and a repetitive cycle."

"carsick" is definitely putting Maro on the right path to cementing his spot in the indie-pop realm. In his own words, "I want to have something that fans hear and immediately know, this is Maro…The music is raw and emotional, and I just want people to find it real."
