Fresh off founding his brand new record label Lab Rat Records, 2e has returned with his sultry single "Rainbow".

After the release of his debut album The Lab way back in 2018, 2e has dropped tracks here and there. Singles like "Wave" and "Malibu" has earned 2e a small cult following and he is always well represented at shows when he's performing. Now after founding his own independent record label, this new track "Rainbow" is the start of a new chapter.
This dusty, lo-fi romantic trip into 2e's mind is introspective and inspiring. The potency in his lyrics are cut throat and sharp but the delivery is laid back a luscious. The thoughts seamlessly spills onto the page and the emotional range on show is nothing short of beautiful. The hook as well is a songwriting masterclass and will be stuck in your head for days. The mix is gritty and nostalgic and the delivery and cadence are an expression of pure mastery.
The production is a throwback as well. Unapologetic in it's nostalgia, the boom-bap drum section with punch kicks and sharp snares are a thing of beauty. The sample flip is executed at a level not often seen from Irish hip-hop. The percussion is sticky and keeps the track moving. The melodies are accompanied with some space cutting EQ techniques that allow the vocals to sit right in the pocket. It is overall a simply fantastic listen and the attention to detail is superb.
2e has promised us that this is only the beginning. With this new era of his career just beginning, we are extremely excited to see where he goes from here under his new indie label. Keep your eyes peeled for his name in the coming months.
