Having terrorised the Irish hip-hop scene for years now, Sequence took a break from music last year to build up his New Eire YouTube channel—a new platform that has given a voice to many emerging Irish artists since its inception. However, once 2020 kicked off, Sequence quickly returned with the release of three singles on top of his Misunderstood EP which came packaged with visuals for two tracks and new drill inspired single titled "Free.".
The production on this track features your prototypical drill type instrumentation with obvious influences from both sides of the pond. The hard-hitting 808's paired with the stuttering and dragging hi-hats create a fluid element of movement within the percussion pocket. This is topped with ominous piano keys as well as vocal samples that create an eerie vibe throughout the entire listen.
Sequence gives us extremely paranoid vibes in his lyrics on this track. He has mastered the art of honest songwriting but still maintaining an aura of danger and confidence that is unmatched by many in his field. His masterful flows and cadences armed with a monstrous prove once again that Sequence is a lethal force on the mic.
