Three-piece synth-washed rock band Jimkata give us a real talk in their latest single “Wanna Go.” Splitting their time between Ithaca and Los Angeles, the trio have written a song raising awareness about the dangers of social media. Delving into the fakeness that comes hand in hand with modern technology and the ability to be able to only show others what you want them to see, Jimkata wants to remind others that life isn’t all what it seems behind the lens.
Showcasing the very best of the band’s signature dynamic, bold sound, “Wanna Go” emits an eccentric vibe through funky melodies, colorful synths and ethereal harmonies. The retro video shows the band dressed in turtleneck sweaters, surrounded by mustard shades. The whimsical visuals create an almost hypnotic and trippy effect, emphasizing the ideology that things aren’t always as they seem.
Having met in middle school, Evan Friedell, Aaron Gorsch and Packy Lunn have combined their love of groove-inducing music, adding elements of Motown and storytelling lyrics to produce a unique sound which has been resonating with listeners across the country.
