The harmony of bass music and hip-hop that XAVAGE brings to his work is second-to-none. With a love for music that started in high school as a hip-hop dancer, he effortlessly applies an sense of movement to each track that's sure to get your head bobbing in mere seconds. The hype continues with his Elysian Records debut, "Money in the Bank," a nuanced affair that ties together themes of trap and the more experimental side of bass music.
Stomping kicks count into the swaggering pitched down vocal, fast establishing the high-octane dynamism of "Money In The Bank." The tension builds towards the impending drop, which flips the energy on its head, with bouncing warped bell and steadfast 808 working in synergistic syncopation. The vocal returns to take us through the motions, building towards yet another unpredictable drop, this time dropping down to a half-time strut and more guttural synths.
XAVAGE will also be giving any fans who donate to the NAACP a free copy of the track plus one other unreleased song. Speaking to the release in the email press release, he says, "music to many of us is our escape, our joy, and our culture. After much thought, Elysian Records and I have decided to move forward with the release. As an artist, I feel my platform should be used in support of Justice for George Floyd and #BlackLivesMatter."
"Money in the Bank" is out now via Elysian Records.
