Sir Veterano's "Reputable" unites West Coast veterans MC Eiht, Planet Asia, and Mitchy Slick

California producer Sir Veterano teams up with three West Coast veteran rappers on his new single "Reputable."  The all-star cut brings together triple OG MC Eiht (of Compton Most Wanted fame), Planet Asia (1/2 of Cali Agents), and Mitchy Slick (from Strongarm Steady crew) and marks Sir Veterano's return to music after a decade long hiatus away from the entertainment industry.  

As the title suggests, Sir Veterano is all about those that laid the foundation and torchbearers of West Coast rap. From another viewpoint, "Reputable" also bridges the different styles attributed to these emcees as we hear a blend of gangsta rap and top-notch East coast styled lyricism. Planet Asia who represents Fresno sets it off with his characteristic silky flow and reminds us that fake shit gets no play when he is around. He also sends some tributes to some west coast luminaries when he quips "…It's Stokely when I'm low-key, I deserve a trophy/I'm out of 'Pac touch down when I'm O-T/it's a wrap nah it's a roti…" I haven't heard much solo work from Mitchy Slick besides his input with SAS but then again he doesn't come unprepared with lines like "….Me and my 'migo, act like we don't know the politics/Get distinguished when the topic is my bag of coins, the gentleman of leisure come out when the lady of the night will join us.." His style, which is akin to a mix of Ras Kass's lyricism and Ice Cube's Gangsta bravado, is well placed between Planet Asia and MC Eiht who close it out with his commanding baritone vocals. It's not every day you hear these rappers collaborating in this manner, so thanks to Sir Veterano for helping to reintroduce that classic sound to new listeners.

The “Reputable” music video was directed by Yellow Nguyen, the man behind videos for Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul. "Reputable" is taken from Sir Veterano's compilation album titled The Gathering. The project is a summoning of the producer's old colleagues and Hip-Hop legends to come together and do the lyrical maiming they’re known for. Notable features include Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Skillz, Fashawn, Supastition and much more.
