Headie One and Fred Again release visuals for “GANG”

U.K. drill rapper Headie One and 2020's BRIT Award producer of the year Fred Again have dropped the music video for “GANG.” The song is one of the eight songs featured in their upcoming collaborative mixtape GANG which will be released on April 3 via Relentless Records.

“GANG” comes in clutch as Headie just got released from jail after about four months. In the second verse, he sings, “Four months and I ain’t been home.” Meanwhile, Fred’s impact can be felt as he transforms a part of Headie’s verse to create the hook. The dark, Arnaud Bresson-directed music video is a powerful one that features the rapper and a group of individuals who multiply as each scene unfolds. They eventually form a gang of different people—old, young, black, white, male, and female.

The 24-year-old rapper is known for his unwavering vocal flow and style of rap. When you hear his voice on a beat, you know he’s the one. Perhaps this is why a subset of fans have a saying that “Headie One is the only One.” Since 2010, he has been on a roll and has made a significant impact in the genre through collaborations, mixtapes, and top-charting singles. It’s hard to listen to songs like “Banter On Me,” “Rubbery Bandz,” “Swerve,” and “18Hunna” without wanting to comb through his discography in search of more bars, witty lyrics, and drill hooks.

Meanwhile, Fred Again has been the driving force behind some of the U.K.'s biggest hits in recent years. Just like many fans of Headie One, Fred has a similar reaction to his lyrics. In a press statement, he said, “Headie is the truth. I realised this when we first made a song together, I muted all the music so you could really hear every lyric and give them space.”

Their eight-track collaborative project GANG will include previously released single “Charades” and feature artists like Jamie xx, FKA Twigs, Sampha, Octavian, and Slowthai.
