At this point, it’s well known that Ivan Ave music videos are not to be missed. The Norwegian MC whose lyrics and flow live in a world of their own has also developed a reputation as someone with original and engaging videos that elevate his musical work. Today on EARMILK, Ave is premiering the video for his track “Guest List Etiquette,” which features vocals from Joyce Wrice and beats from otherworldly producers Mndsgn and Devin Morrison. The track comes from Ave’s forthcoming LP Double Goodbyes, which will be out later this month.
In his typical lighthearted demeanor, Ave writes on “Guest List Etiquette” about what he calls, “an existential aspect of the night life: to be or not to be on the guest list.” Over the spaced out production, Ave and Wrice deliver duet-style vocals as they navigate the complicated social dynamics in the formation of a guest list. The video was shot over a few days in Oslo and shows Ave and Wrice moving through town as they prepare for a show that night while dealing with an onslaught of guest list requests. In both the track and the video, Ave and Wrice have effortless chemistry which, when combined with the gripping visuals and Mndsgn and Devin Morrison’s pulsing beat, makes for a memorable video.
