On Friday morning, Toronto singer and songwriter, Jessie Reyez released her first full-length LP entitled, Before Love Came to Kill Us. The new album arrives with a new feature from Eminem and previously released singles, "ANKLES", "FIGURES", and "IMPORTED" featuring 6lack.

Stream the album below:

Reyez, 28, puts her vulnerable songwriting abilities on display in the most ruthless way possible. She transparently sings about death in clever ways in songs like "INTRUDERS", "COFFIN" and "KILL US". The artist seems to be reminding us of our mortality intentionally, in the meantime, the project fixates on romance and the classic relationship issues.

She reunites with a collaboration with Eminem on "COFFIN" after working with the Detroit-legend on his 2019 Platinum album Kamikaze on a few tracks.

BEFORE LOVE CAME TO KILL US is executively produced by Tim Suby and Reyez. The debut follows her 2018 EP Being Human in Public which recently snagged Jessie Reyez's first Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album. It is a true testament to her journey as she began her music career in the streets of Toronto, busking. Her parents emigrated from Columbia and she being proud of her heritage recently spoke on her mindset on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah saying,

"First of all, I have to thank my parents. That uphill immigrant battle is a real thing," Reyez continued. "Watching my parents have to hustle twice as hard for opportunities, have to navigate in a world (where) there first language is Spanish, and have to work their asses off. I feel like it taught me to make opportunities from failure or anytime something seems too hard."

The album was released on the 27th and was meant to be released in the middle of young superstar, Billie Eilish's North American tour. Jessie Reyez was meant to be opening for her friend Billie's tour of which was on it's third show in Raleigh, NC before all other dates unfortunately were postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This too was supposed to be the first year for Reyez to perform a set at Coachella.

Jessie Reyez's own headline tour that was set to begin April 24th in Virginia Beach has also been pushed to the first day of June in New Orleans. For more information on Jessie Reyez and to find her music, you connect with the links below.
