With such an abundance of quality music coming out of Australia these days, it’s difficult for artists to make enough of a splash to break through. Maina Doe is not one of those artists. The Sydney-based vocalist may only have a few singles to her name at the moment, but they exhibit enough for us to know that she has a huge future. In an exclusive with EARMILK, Doe is releasing a new music video for her latest single “Unwritten Laws,” which features fellow Australian artist Genesis Owusu.
The dreamy track features lush production with a delectable amount of edge sprinkled in the mix, creating an apt foundation for Doe’s smooth yet springy vocal delivery. With a healthy dose of sensuality, she writes about surrendering to intuition and the beauty in the unwritten laws of nature. Keeping with that tone, the stylish, understated video directed by Andrew Morgan focuses on emotive shots of Doe and Owusu as they deliver their lines with relaxed chemistry. With any hope, the impressive work on “Unwritten Laws” is just the beginning of a fruitful career for Maina Doe.
