Budding South Bronx-based emcee Flo Kennedy's new song “10451” is a gritty tribute to her borough. Over the soulful vocal samples and hard drums provided by her long-time producer and friend, 2ONE2, she interweaves street slang with her poetic roots to bring the listener closer to the action. Kennedy doesn't mince her words and pours her emotions on wax as she gives a bit of the good, bad and the ugly from her own perspective.
"10451" is a brilliant effort and sure evokes a nostalgic feeling of the past but still maintaining the pristine aura of the present. For now it seems the song is a one off single and not tied to a larger body of work but regardless it's something to grow on.
