After launching her KNTXT imprint with a collaboration with Chris Liebing in September, the Belgian DJ/producer just served up two new EP's.
The techno assassin describes the dual EP's as "the perfect reflection of the music I have been playing over the years." On the first EP Selected, "people will find straightforward techno with the acid twist that I love to bring to the floor when I’m touring." Indeed, acid lasers are the common element across these four bristling productions. Title track "Selected" delivers industrial imposing atmospheres with distorted drums and melodramatic stabs. "Form" and "Time," heightens the EP's acidic tensions, riddled with subterranean bass. "Amar" wraps up the EP with gorgeous synths that suspend you in the cosmos.
In comparison, Pressure is is an extension of the mixes she brings to her BBC Radio 1 Residency – "a more ambient approach that’s rougher around the edges." Pressure focuses more on the atmospheric details. Take title track "Pressure" as an example. Building harmony between the lush ambient melodies and multidimensional noises, de Witte immerses listeners with unassuming subtleties under a cosmic climate.
On the subject of the dual release, de Witte adds, “For me, this duality is essential to explore my interests both as a producer and DJ, so it made sense to release them simultaneously, as we also combine our label releases with events and our weekly radio show."
