DMV trio Lo Village continue to hone in on what makes them unique with a smooth R&B, and hip-hop infused sound in "Richie Rich." The new track sees singer Ama deliver smooth, soothing vocals as rappers Kane and Tyler weave poetic lyricism in between a soft R&B bounce.
"Richie Rich" is the fifth single from their upcoming EP It Takes A Village, their first project since 2017's For the Birds. No individual gets lost in the beat; instead, they each take control of it with the strength and clarity of veteran artisanship. The chorus and rap styles invoke respective comparisons to those of Ari Lennox and Goldlink, but Lo Village's chemistry is unlike any group in R&B or hip-hop. The fluidity with which they each ride the beat and transition between verses is unlike any other group, and it's what makes Lo Village an undeniably exciting trio to follow.
