Jamal Gasol's newest release "Buick Music" takes us on an animated road trip on many levels. The gruff-voiced rapper, who reminds me of Jim Jones, shares dark street tales over a smooth, soulful instrumental made up of lush textures and a smooth vocal sample. The song is quite short and sees the Niagara Falls, New York-bred artist kick a long verse with the chorus at the very end.
The animated visual was done by DeadFuckingHippie who takes inspiration from the vintage Ralph Bakshi cartoons and puts Gasol at the driver seat on a dream-like journey to an unknown destination. “Buick Music” is taken from Gasol's recently released Kansas City Smack Man EP, which is actually available for free download via Soundcloud. The 4 -rack EP is entirely produced by JLVSN (Mach Hommy, Left Lane Didon) who previously worked with Gasol’s on The World Is Piff project.
