It's good to have Minnesota back.
The dubstep fan favorite hasn't released an original project since October 2018, but has returned in a big way with his new two-track EP Too Faced. The titular track "Too Faced" is an absolute behemoth of a single, beautifully oscillating between the silky smooth flow of rapper Reks and the nasty glitch-hop production of Minnesota. The drop features crunchy, menacing saws under velvety piano strikes, which are brilliantly interspersed with dubstep-influenced wobbles. Think GRiZ meets 20syl.
All in all, the brilliant nuances of Minnesota's unique approach to bass music are on full display throughout "Too Faced" as well as "Lattice," the EP's second and final tune. The project is miniature in terms of size, but it serves as a microcosm for Minnesota's forward-thinking sound design, which has never wavered throughout the years.
