Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One reunite as Tuxedo for “Tuxedo III” album release

Super duo Tuxedo has reunited for a third foray together. Made up of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, Tuxedo is funk's all-star team, with eight Grammy nominations between the two of them from working with all kinds of artists across many efficiencies. Since their first get together on a self-titled album in 2015, Tuxedo has been funk's most well-revered and well-versed group. In 2019, their latest album Tuxedo III follows its second edition released in 2017, and features an impressive list of collaborators across disciplines, including hip-hop's dark horse MF Doom, soul artist Gabriel Garzón-Montano, and fellow funk artist Dām-FunK.

Tuxedo III ebbs and flows across 11 tracks, with a sunny disposition that shows the guys simply know what they're doing. Sexy, retro and self-assured, Tuxedo has created a funk music dictionary that doesn't have a timestamp. And if our math is right, we can expect Tuxedo IV in 2021.
