Anna Altar is a pop music project started by LA native turned Portland local Nicole Mormann (music, lyrics, production, keys) in spring 2017, with the debut release “Like You” to follow in 2018. She is currently working on an EP, and in the interim shares her newest single "No Difference". The single was made in collaboration with Nashville-based producer Jason Haag and the result is a mix of alternative-pop with contemporary R&B sensibilities. Mormann delivers a raw, passionate performance that draws from a conflicted creative soul trying to make a mark in this unforgiving music business.
Mormann uses the song as an outlet to express her complicated relationship with music as she struggles with the task that comes with adding to the bottom line of the record label and creating something people can feel regardless of sales. "No Difference" brings to light what every creative goes through when it comes down to their art and the business side, plus all the inner conflicts that they experience along the way. She finalizes her stance with the realization that she should be proud of her art regardless of whether or not it's revered or can sell a million units.
"No Difference" is taken from her upcoming EP The Wall of Great Feeling, due in October.
