As the infamous fairytale goes, at the stroke of midnight, all magic will cease and everything will be returned to normal—true love will be lost and everything will be a tale gone by. In Louis Mattrs' newest soul-sucking offering, "Midnight" divulges in a very different narrative from the norm, offering a pleading ballad of the night drawing two people closer in than ever before.

Soul is the basis of "Midnight", amalgamating heartwarming synths and piano backdrops for an ethereal dreamscape that fully showcases Mattrs' extensive vocal range. "I knew it was time to create something of my own," he shares of the single. "Listening to Shiloh Dynasty and XXXtentacion had me inspired me to write a mellow vocal and then add a soul/electronic production to bring that flavour." True to his words, "Midnight" echoes the quiet of the night, illuminated by a full moon's soft glow for a fully reposed effect. Lyrically speaking on the sensual feelings that the night can bring out in us, the track is ripe with various sonic influences and ultimately, soars above with its fully painted audial tapestry—tantalizing in all its subtleties.

After the release of his critically acclaimed debut album On The Rocks, his collaboration with G-Eazy on his platinum selling album and his feature on the SG Lewis' track "No Less", Mattrs has been producing a string of releases for James Vickery, SG Lewis and TS Graye. To date, Mattrs' songs and collaborations have amassed close to an awe-inspiring 100 million streams. Touring with Chase and Status, citing Kylie Jenner as a fan, and having his music featured in Marvel films, the artist's accolades are numerous.
