Having already made a name for herself as the winner of BBC One’s Pitch Battle, where she performed alongside Will Young and Kelis, Glasgow-born but London-based singer-songwriter Hannah Slavin is shining brightly on her new record "I Am A Mess". Infused with a fun pop sensibility and a bit of tropical flair "I Am A Mess", has us reminiscing of Alessia Cara's breakout single "Here" but this time with a catchier and more upbeat flavor.
Despite a title like, "I Am A Mess", the single is a lyrically carefree approach to feeling free and confident, as Hannah proudly proclaims that she's "living for the weekend" and that she's got no worries, no stress, and hasn't "come here to impress. anyone" Preach sister!
Speaking about her new single, Hannah added, “In a time and age where everyone is aiming to have this picture perfect life, where there are no bad days and you go to the gym, eat salad every day and have your whole life planned out – I just can’t relate to that in any way and I wanted to celebrate the opposite side to that. So here it is. My reality. And I’m sure a lot of other peoples reality too."
Instantly catchy and easy to sing along to, "I Am A Mess" is a proud declaration to live as you like, be as you are, and be easy. Maybe it's one note you'll sing right into the weekend. Slavin goes on to say, "I hope it makes people celebrate their ‘non-perfect life’ a bit more because it’s pretty damn fun. If that makes me a ‘mess’, then that’s exactly what I am.”
