Japanese producer Boys Get Hurt never disappoints with his signature tender and bouncy synth pop. Always popping up with the most enjoyable singles and remixes, Boys Get Hurt has worked his dreamy magic on tracks by artists like Flight Facilities, RAC, Miami Horror, and Ralph. He also frequently appears on label Kitsuné as well as on those sinful Toolroom Records Poolside compilations. New York indie pop band Jaguar Dreams and their track “Mean Somethin’” is the latest tune to get the Boys Get Hurt treatment.
The original track boasts an infectious energy that compares to artists like Phoenix or Two Door Cinema Club, so it’s hard to believe that a remix could compete. However Boys Get Hurt manages to bring this yearning style of disco that fuses brilliantly with the original track. His inspiration comes from the melancholy feeling of summer ending, but I’m sure it’s one that a lot of people are going to be taking with them as the season comes into full swing.
