Akurei delivers the first taste of his forthcoming EP with new single "Stockholm"

Fresh off the back of his cover of Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)’, Australian artist Akurei now brings an emotive and delicate original, "Stockholm."

In 2018, Akurei took the plunge and released his debut four-track EP August, that elegantly laid out the young artists direction, and solidified his mesmerizing style of atmospheric beats tangled in memorable lyrics. Each track boasted in its minimalistic nature, allowing each element to shine with their full potential and crosses genre lines from indie, electronic, and r&b music.

Now, as the first taste if his second EP, Akurei brings us "Stockholm," a track which was written in a hostel while on a solo journey through Europe. The track serves as an ode for anyone who has experienced 'loneliness and the longing for connection you encounter while traveling alone.' The production brings the listener to a place of stillness, as each lyric paints the picture of cobblestone streets and people being lost in their phones, not able to live in the moment. The song has a certain confliction of missing what's back at home, but also acknowledges the need to get out.

Composition wise, the track flows with warm pads, light guitar riffs and vocal samples, setting the perfect stage for Akurei's voice to float atop. Along with this he teamed up with his long-time collaborator Golden Vessel while they were on tour, to create a  carefree music video for "Stockholm." Golden Vessel also acted as a co-producer for the forthcoming EP to ensure that they didn't miss a beat.

‘I travelled and performed through the United States in February this year with Max (Golden Vessel) and we decided to film a music video with the camcorder he had brought along. We found the fur coat and pants in the same op shop in Boston. We wanted the video to feel a little self-deprecating and goofy.’

Check out the video below, and be sure to keep an eye out for Akurei's EP, coming later this year.
