Last year saw the release of Julietta’s debut Smooth Sailing, an album of seven 80s-tinged pop tracks influenced by her “wild youth” in New York City. Her style of synth pop combines dreamy and psychedelic elements for a hot and hazy result that’s perfect for the beach. Along with the announcement of her Smooth Sailing (Remixed) album, Julietta has shared a remix from the release done by fellow New Yorker Chris Glover, a.k.a. Penguin Prison.
“Stripes + Squares” gets huge dose of Penguin Prison magic. Playful marimbas and lively percussion make this an undeniably fun and danceable remix. Glover manages to hang on to the mystique and bounce of the original, but he certainly pushes the track into anthem territory with his energy and style. Even Julietta says that the remix “came out to be such a banger.”
Penguin Prison’s “Stripes + Squares” remix is available now. Look for it to appear on the entire release alongside remixes from Sofi Tukker, Yeasayer, French Horn Rebellion, KNKS, among others.
