Bristol's indie five-piece Make Friends share their summery single "Ellie", transporting us to sun-filled hazy days.
Featuring infectious pop guitar hooks and dance-inducing melodies, "Ellie" delves into the pre-breakup period of a relationship. It's entrancing indie-pop sparkles in the glorious sunshine and delivers an enticing formula of gripping riffs and vocal swoons. Offering chilled indie sequences, and a comforting drum beat, "Ellie" is the perfect first single from the band's upcoming EP Hi.
Speaking of the latest single, lead singer Tom Andrew says "Ellie is the most personal track on the EP. It's a retrospective account of the frustration and emptiness felt from a lack of connection in your relationship. It's also about coming to terms with the fact that maybe it coming to an end was for the best and accepting that they might be happier with someone else."
The band's EP Hi is released this July.
