Hip-hop listeners were definitely in need of some heat that would blow our minds so much that we would have to re-evaluate the entire rap game. On “Homicide”, Logic and Eminem did just that. Over the haunting instrumental, the two artists teamed up on the track providing listeners with fire bars and unmatched flows, making the two legendary rappers’ first collaboration monumental.
“Homicide” kicks off featuring a narrative between Logic and his dad and then immediately jumps into Logic’s intricate rhymes and running flow. The 29-year old hip-hop artist also repeatedly take jabs at other “rappers” when he says “I got bitches, I got hoes, I got rare designer clothes. No, we ain't fuckin' with that!”. Although Logic’s flow seems effortless, the rapper consistently goes hard from mocking the new generation of hip hop artists to paying his respects to Eminem. Eminem also uses his verse to call out artists in the hip hop who don’t write their own raps when her clearly mentions “I don't want to fuckin' listen to you spit your raps someone else wrote”. Hence, “Homicide” is definitely a proper name for the song considering the repeated shots both Logic and Eminem take at many “rappers” in the hip-hop industry. The track also samples the comedian Chris D’Elia’s Marshall Mathers impression of Eminem adding another funny element to the song.
Overall, “Homicide” was a clear indication that both Eminem and Logic are two artists that will constantly bring the heat, especially when paired together.
“Homicide” will be on Logic’s sixth studio album Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which is to be released later this year.
