Lila Drew crashed into my inbox with her sparkling voice a few months ago, with her first single "faded/2am." A collaboration with American rapper Goldlink, it was an extremely promising debut for someone so young. Her latest track "numb," on the soundtrack for the Netflix film The Last Summer, is characteristically fabulous.
On Twitter, Drew said, "big news… a song i wrote almost two years ago called numb is coming out this friday in The Last Summer on @netflix!!" The production is clean and full of synth, fusing the electro-pop with a vintage vibe. It's one of the more interesting tracks on the EDM-influenced soundtrack. Drew's voice is paramount, always at the forefront. To boot, she's a smart lyricist. "numb" is sleek and fun, perfect for summer, and Lila Drew is unequivocally one to watch.
