Hedara is a "Slow" burning fire ready to set ablaze with passionate new music

They say that life happens while you're busy making other plans. For London singer-songwriter Hedara, life is happening because she let it make its own plans. Having always had music at the forefront of her mind, Hedara (Scarlett Billham) circulated through the coveted venues of her hometown under different musical aliases and bands shortly after graduating from the prestigious BRIT Academy in 2016 (other notable alumni include Adele, Jessie J, Freya Ridings). This humble beginning didn't last long, though. After surviving a diabetic coma, a near-death experience, Billham took stock of what's important and slowly eased back into her pursuit of a musical career. The result is a new EP, with its title track "Slow" lighting the fire that started it all- her passion for music.

Tenderly dominating the lush, soft electro-pop production with her alluring vocals, Hedara gracefully marks her return to the musical stage. "Slow" was co-written and co-produced with Carey Willets, who has worked with the likes of Dua Lipa and Dermot Kennedy. With their instant chemistry, Hedara explains that "['Slow'] was the first song I wrote with [him]. It's a song of hope and allowing yourself to completely give in, find the confidence to fall with someone, and do it at your own pace." Hedara's conflict with her hesitation and overwhelming desire influence the song's composition with its timid verses leading into a swelling, euphoric chorus backed by silky synths. Just like its title suggests, it's a slow and calculated vocal arrangement, but once it reaches the finish line, you've forgotten all about its time and instead marvel at its feat.

Catch Hedara as she tours the U.K this spring.
