It takes a special kind of talent and unadulterated vulnerability to be able to fully and completely introduce yourself to the world with just one song. Virginia native BarlowLN (Evan Barlow) is certainly not lacking talent, and with his debut single "Let him Come", he proves that when it comes to his music, he's an open book.
Sharing the motivation behind this song with his fans on Facebook , Barlow reveals that he still finds himself struggling with heroin cravings and uses music as a clean outlet of the turmoil inside. It's an endearing and refreshing approach to connecting with listeners. And more importantly, it provides ample substance to his songs, transcending the limits of songwriting. That same limitless attitude is applied to his music, as Barlow isn't confined to any defined genre. Taking after a diverse range of influences, including 2Pac and Johnny Cash, the result is a visceral rendition of what would happen if rap, R&B, and indie rock came together in a harmonious union. "Let Him Come" epitomizes this union with a modern R&B production that is propelled by the addition of acoustic guitar and Barlow's gritty vocals.
With a complex history and passion for music, Barlow is eagerly working on his debut album, describing it as "The story of my life from 14 to 20 years old. It's been a wild ride, that's for sure, and I'm glad I was able to make it out alive and put it into art." The album will be released on Elektra Records, in addition to live dates being announced soon.
