Drahla unleash their arresting new single "Stimulus For Living"

"'Stimulus For Living' is a visual composition that reflects the lyrical content of the track. Based upon abstracted ideas and thought, challenging standardised format and perception". And so sets the scene.

Forming in Leeds in 2015, Drahla have organically grown their reputation as a formidable live act, sharing stages with the likes of Parquet Courts, METZ and The Cribs. Spending most of 2018 touring the group only managed to spend 10 days in the recording studio – the unsettling nature of this period inspiring the title of their debut project.

"Stimulus For Living" is a chaotic amalgamation of post-punk and jagged art rock as unpredictable guitar rhythms float over a raucous melody. The track opens with frantic snippets from a tedious interview before front-man Luciel Brown interrupts the monotony with an anxious reminder for her listeners to "take a bite of life".

Breaking the walls of perception, the three-piece revert the expected model of an art gallery, choosing instead to exist within the installation space. Vintage television sets flicker in the gloom before the screen is canvased in a veneer of black paint – obscuring the images blinking underneath.

Let the revolution begin.

Drahla's debut album 'Useless Coordinates' is out May 3rd on Captured Tracks.
