Meet LA’s new aesthetic, glam-pop band, Nasty Cherry with their debut single "Win"

If you’ve kept up with Charli XCX’s Instagram in the last few months, chances are you’ve seen the words “Nasty Cherry” plugged quite a few times. LA’s veteran popstar Charli was gracious enough to cue us into the fact that they are an-all girl band, but kept the element of surprise on almost everything else.

Now, Nasty Cherry is finally ready to come out into the world. Out this week was their debut single “Win,” a shimmering pop-gone-alt song co-written by Charli XCX. Released on Charli's long-dormant imprint of Asylum Recordings, Vroom Vroom Recordings, the new single is fiery, spunky, and just plain ballsy.

Such a brash introduction to the four-piece girl group is altogether fitting: their attitude towards life matches their music quite exactly.  “I’m such a psycho, got violent eyes / I’ll make it rain down,” lead vocalist Gabby Bechtel sings on the first verse, and we're instantly thrown into bad-bitch mode. It’s classic bitch-pop, and the very daring cover art is the icing on top to what is a searing, bratty alt-pop single with a synthy flair. A mix of Silversun Pickups at their grittiest hour and the Naked and Famous at their brightest, Nasty Cherry blends blistering guitars, sing-along vocals, and a side of girl-power for a guaranteed good time. While all we have of them is a fiery, 2:44 minute single, "Win" in itself is catchy enough to make you love the band already, and makes us super excited to see what they come up with next.
