The world of hip-hop is full of sordid tales of life in excess that involve some combination of partying, bravado, and plenty of debauchery. While these are well-trodden themes in the genre, few have depicted them quite like BiG HEATH on his single “Bouncy.” The song dropped a few weeks ago but the Cambridge, U.K. native is premiering a video for the track today on EARMILK that shows not only his growing status as an MC but also that he is an irresistible force on camera.
In describing the song, BiG HEATH writes, “’Bouncy’ basically describes me, both mentally and physically.” The explanation proves accurate as he shows off both clever writing and a huge dose of theatricality in the video. When he is rapping into the camera, he absolutely commands the audience’s attention as he tells the tale of a particular Friday night at the club. Many have rapped about their skills with varying degrees of believability, but with BiG HEATH’s witty rhymes and undeniable on-screen charisma, it’s easy to buy in when he writes, “don’t mistake this as cocky / but ain’t nobody gonna stop me / I’m well aware that haters stare, but you’re the stairs and I’m Rocky.”
